Project Introduction - OTWOCK 2.0

Otwock 2.0 is a project dedicated for the Information Processing in Urban Planning course at the University of Technology in Warsaw. The objective of this project was to address the issues connected to inadequate town planning, which in turn leads to socio-economic issues in Otwock, as well as the poor environmental conditions of the town.

Our group's aim is to address issues such as lack of multifunctional public space/place, lack of educational, informative or recreational activities for the inhabitants, in particular the young, and the severe air pollution in Otwock.

Our urban interventions focus on the Eastern side of the town of Otwock, at the crossing of Żerosmkiego st. and Reymonta st. This is a site which can act as a spatial connector between the existing town centre and the planned development. We will propose a solution for an appropriate urban layout of the site, with an end-goal of implementing a Community Centre, which will provide the inhabitants with various services and activities, which will be determined in the process of social experiments and public consultations. Along the way we will present our strategy of battling the air pollution issue.

This blog is dedicated to documenting our process, as well as reporting our strategies for public participation, which will be implemented in the scheme for revitalising the urban skin of Otwock and the enrich the lives of its inhabitants.
